Plan your trip carefully! Kampala (the capital) is 40 km from Entebbe (where the airport is). Both Kampala and Entebbe have a variety of hotels, lodges and apartments. Consider your main places to visit - sometimes it makes sense to stay in Entebbe because the drive through Kampala can be quite long due to traffic.

Uganda is a multi-confessional country with a predominance of Christianity (85% of the population - 39% Catholics, 32% Protestants of various denominations). In second place is Islam (14% of the population, 90% Sunni). Sunday is a day of services, many establishments are closed. Modest clothing is welcome. Aggressive, noisy and impolite behavior is frowned upon. Local residents are usually calm and unhurried. In villages, there may be taboos (for example, on photographing rituals or people). Ask permission. In conversations, avoid criticizing religion, politics and LGBT issues (homosexuality is a criminal offense in Uganda).

Safety tips:
Carry a copy of your passport - keep the original in the hotel safe.
Avoid night driving - there is a high risk of robbery.
Do not photograph the military/police - they may require a fine.
If you have problems - call the tourist police first, they are loyal to foreigners.
Tourism opportunities in Uganda

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
One of the last patches of virgin forest in East Africa, home to about half of the world's mountain gorillas. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Murchison Falls
